WORKPLACE TECHNOLOGIES MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Job Summary
Under direction, the Workplace Technologies Manager is responsible for enhancing the digital experience of staff through workplace technologies and services provided by the Health Information Systems Department (HIS) at Cook County Health (CCH). The manager oversees the Workplace Technologies team, including operations, governance, enablement, and engineering. Additionally, this role serves as a crucial liaison between the HIS Department and various departments within CCH, ensuring seamless integration and alignment of workplace technologies with organizational objectives.
Typical Duties
- Leads and manages the Workplace Technologies team, including hiring, coaching, and developing team members
- Oversees the management of Workplace Technologies applications and infrastructure, encompassing Microsoft 365 services, collaboration and messaging tools, intranets and portals, generative AI, low/no-code citizen development, unified endpoint management and compliance, printing services, and application and desktop virtualization platforms
- Develops and maintains an accurate inventory of all IT assets within the organization, including hardware, software, licenses, and peripherals
- Strategically manages Workplace Technologies services and vendors in collaboration with sourcing, procurement, and vendor management teams
- Collaborates with Technology, Experience, Human Resources, and other key stakeholders to set the vision, mission, and strategic direction for Workplace Technologies, focusing on enhancing the employee experience and aligning with business goals
- Leads efforts to continuously improve Workplace Technologies services, collaborating with internal teams and external partners
- Develops and manages the annual budget for Workplace Technologies initiatives, aligning it with overall organizational objectives
- Ensures Workplace Technology releases, standards, usage, and licensing comply with corporate policies and security standards
- Monitors the performance and usage of Workplace Technologies, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement
- Communicates regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on technology initiatives, solicit feedback, and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Stays abreast of new technologies and platforms, guiding the integration of emerging technologies to meet business demands and enhance workforce digital dexterity
- Contributes to the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for Workplace Technologies team services and maintains documentation for workplace technology products and services
- Champions workplace technology services and operations, setting program goals, and measuring impact to demonstrate effectiveness
- Establishes and leads a workplace technology steering committee to guide strategic decisions and initiatives
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Seven (7) years of experience supporting workplace technologies services
- Five (5) years of experience managing IT support, systems, processes, and vendors
- Three (3) years of experience managing or supervising
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Experience supporting workplace technology services in a large healthcare system
- Experience in defining, measuring, and managing service level agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Proven financial management skills, including operational budget tasks
- Awareness of workplace analytics or digital employee experience management tools
- Strong working knowledge of IT workplace technology services
- Experience with implementing and managing ITIL processes, including knowledge, incident, change, service request, problem management, configuration management, release management, capacity management, and major incident management
- Experience with vendor management, including success in conducting RFPs and vendor service transitions
- Experience in assessing and mitigating risks associated with workplace technology services
- Experience in leading technology change and deployments
- Experience managing or supervising personnel working under a collective bargaining agreement

Physical and Environmental Demands
This position is functioning within a healthcare environment. The incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department specific safety requirements. This includes but is not limited to the following policies and procedures: complying with Personal Protective Equipment requirements, hand washing and sanitizing practices, complying with department specific engineering and work practice controls and any other work area safety precautions as specified by hospital wide policy and departmental procedures.
