General Functions:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting of assigned non-profit organizations. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for month-end processes, ad-hoc audits, and special projects needed by the organization and department.
Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Facilitate and complete month-end closing procedures, including adjusting journal entries, revenue accruals, fringe & overhead allocations, facility allocations, review of bi-weekly payroll
- Monitor balance sheet activity and prepare reconciliations as necessary to gain a thorough understanding of balance sheet balances, follow up on discrepancies, and prepare journal entries as necessary.
- Coordinate with Assistant Controller and other accounting staff to meet monthly,
- quarterly, and yearly close processes.
- Assist in schedule preparation for annual financial audits of assigned companies.
- Develops and maintains internal and external relationships.
- Support direct reports and Staff Accountants by answering questions, providing guidance, making recommendations, and preparing training crucial to their development.
- Supervise General Ledger – Staff Accountants.
- Review certain reconciliation/journal entries submitted by other staff accountants.
- Focus on reconciliations of more complex balance sheet items.
- Other duties and projects as needed and assigned.
Job Specifications:
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Financial and audit skills commensurate with a corporation the size and functional orientation of CITC and its affiliates.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with department management and staff.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with a particular emphasis on working in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.
- Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong organization and time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
Accounting Manager
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Two (2) years of general ledger, audit, or related accounting experience.
- Two (2) years of experience with conducting or preparing for internal/external audits.
- Two (2) years of experience with financial statement preparation.
- One (1) year of accounting supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
- Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
Sr. Accounting Manager
- Four (4) years of general ledger, audit, or related accounting experience.
- Three (3) years of experience with conducting or preparing for internal/external audits.
- Three (3) years of experience with financial statement preparation.
- Three (3) years of accounting supervisory experience.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications for all levels:
- Experience using Sage Intacct and ADP.
- Public Accounting experience.

- May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.
- The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
