Job Title:          Program Manager, Prevention 

Department:    Family Wellness 

Reports to:       Director/Senior Director, Family Wellness Services

Supervises:       Family Navigators, Family Service Workers, Prevention Coordinators

Pay Grade:        E5

FLSA Status:    Exempt

Job Type:          Full-time Regular

General Functions:

The Program Manager, Prevention oversees the delivery and administration of prevention services within the Family Wellness department. These services focus on preventing child abuse and neglect, substance use disorders, and suicide among Alaska Native and American Indian individuals, including parents, youth, and children. The Program Manager collaborates with community partners to coordinate and align project activities, supports the FW Senior Director in monitoring program performance through data tracking, and manages data collection and reporting to ensure compliance with federal evaluation and monitoring requirements.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to: 

  • Recruit, interview and hire team members. 
  • Provide leadership by inspiring, guiding and motivating teams. 
  • Create an environment that fosters employee engagement and satisfaction. 
  • Identify training needs, provide opportunities for learning and growth and support the professional development of team members. 
  • Evaluate performance of team members to include providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and conducting performance appraisals. 
  • Ensure project model fidelity by aligning resources and inputs with intended outcomes, and by tracking outputs to uphold quality assurance standards. 
  • Foster collaboration with project partners by scheduling, coordinating, and documenting results of planning meetings.
  • Meet operational goals by scheduling, delegating, and following up on work progress with employees.
  • Manage collaborative partnerships with external contracted support as needed e.g. evaluators, strategic planners and/or cultural advisors. 
  • Coordinate with Family Wellness colleagues to establish annual cultural events to include guest speakers, needed resources, and connection to protective factors that support wellness.
  • Supervise staff engagement with participants through oversight of interventions, team meetings, and case reviews.
  • Oversee administration of outcome and evaluation tools by meeting with staff and participants to complete. 
  •    Compile reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data.
  • Maintain accuracy and efficacy of program data management tools, including all software applications used to gather, analyze and report program data.
  • Promote program participation through outreach, scheduling updates and collaboration with relevant government and community entities. 
  • Build agency credibility by maintaining strong working relationships with grantees and advisory boards and partner service agencies.
  • Advocate for the agency by promoting awareness of program services available for participants and adhering to a professional code of ethics.
  • Support operational consistency by adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and networking.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of the child welfare system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead multiple activities with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal management principles and practices.
  • Proficient with computers: word processing, email communication, internet resourcing, spreadsheets, and case management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and foster collaboration among community-based organizations, internal partners, and external contractors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.

 

Minimum Core Competencies: CITC Values, Respectful Leadership, Professionalism, Emotional Intelligence, Problem Solving/Critical Thinking, Communication Skills. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in program management related to human services. 
  • Two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Five years of experience coordinating service delivery in all aspects of applicable human services. Relevant experience includes working knowledge of dynamics of human behavior of individuals and groups, working with children and families in crisis, and working knowledge of applicable theories to the practice of social work and safety systems.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a state and federal background check. 
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which     requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years. 

 

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and consistently working on a computer with repetitive motion.  
  • The need to occasionally move around the office to access filing cabinets, storage cabinets, and office equipment may be necessary. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
