Cook Memorial Public Library District is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, customer service-oriented librarian to join our team. Ideal applicants are avid non-fiction readers; have experience leading a book club; are curious and adaptable to new services and technologies; and dedicated to excellent patron service.
Hours:
Part-time, averaging 25.5 hours a week. Includes one full weekend per month, one evening per week, and daytime hours. Opportunities for substitution hours.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Serves patrons at the Information Desk at both Aspen Drive and Cook Park Library locations.
· Assists patrons in the use of electronic products and digital collections.
· Participates in the collection development process by selecting and weeding materials in assigned areas.
· Assists patrons with use of library collections, both print and digital, and subscription databases.
· Provides tech assistance with computers, smart devices, and library equipment.
· Plans and leads the Non-Fiction Book Club.
· Creates relevant printed and digital content for patrons, including blog posts, podcasts, newsletters, and reading lists.
· Stays abreast of current trends, issues and topics by reviewing relevant professional literature and attending conferences and workshops.

- MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited library school.
- Dedication to high quality reference practices and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
- Knowledge of and experience with general print reference materials, databases and Internet resources.
- Computer aptitude, including skills in MS Office software products including MS 365. Proficient with devices such as cell phones and tablets.
· Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills.
· Experience working with book clubs.

Anticipated hiring range $26-$27 per hour, DOQ. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Optional vision, dental, life insurance, and 457(b) deferred compensation plan. Paid sick, vacation, holiday and parental leave. Premium pay on Sundays. Cost of living and merit increases.
