Overview

Duties
- Collect and maintain accurate medical records for oncology patients, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Utilize ICD-9 coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures related to radiation cancer treatment.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation of patient encounters and treatments.
- Review medical records for completeness and accuracy, identifying any discrepancies that need resolution.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for regulatory agencies and internal quality assurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding medical billing and coding practices.
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure adherence to coding guidelines and standards.
- Provide support in medical collection processes as needed, ensuring timely resolution of billing issues.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology related to oncology and general healthcare practices.
- Strong understanding of medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-9 codes and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical office software. Experience with Aria and Powerchart is preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex medical records and extract relevant data accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with healthcare professionals.
