We are looking to add to our firm a Construction Defect Litigation Associate Attorney. The successful candidate will be entrusted with responsibilities that include assisting and the support of a Firm Partner in representing clients in construction-related disputes and litigation and perform thorough legal analysis. This role requires an understanding of areas of construction law. Ability to process all phases of litigation from investigation, pleadings, and discovery to pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal.

The successful Construction Defect Litigation Associate Attorney responsibilities and assistance include:

  • Strong foundation in legal research, writing, communication (written and oral), legal analysis, organization and professional presentation.
  • Investigation: Conducting thorough investigations into the construction defect, which may involve gathering evidence, consulting with experts (such as engineers or architects) and documenting the extent of the defects.
  • Drafting Pleadings: Preparing legal documents, such as complaints or petitions, to initiate or respond to legal actions. This includes drafting motions, discovery requests, and other court documents.
  • Discovery: Managing the discovery process, which involves obtaining and reviewing technical evidence from the opposing party, including documents, depositions, and interrogatories.
  • Negotiation: Assist the Firm’s Partner in communications between negotiating settlements with the opposing party or their insurance companies to resolve disputes without going to trial.
  • Representation in Court: Assist a Firm Partner in representing the client in court hearings, trials, or arbitration proceedings, presenting evidence, and making legal arguments to support the client's case.
  • Client Communication: Keeping the client informed about the progress of their case, explaining legal options, and advising on strategic decisions throughout the litigation process.
  • Remediation and Damages reports and communications to secure appropriate remedies for the client, which may include repairs, financial compensation for damages, or other forms of relief.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all legal actions comply with relevant laws and regulations and ensure the Firm and its clients’ interests are protected throughout the entirety of the case and litigation process.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently, be proactive in working with others in a fast-paced environment under varying time-constraints to deliver high quality work product.
  • Time management skills are essential, as well as being detailed oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks while understanding the picture of the case cycle and timeline.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Ability to be admitted to practice law in the state where the position is located
  • 2-3 year’s experience (required) in construction defect litigation with knowledge general law
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and research

This position will be filled in Denver, CO and in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act, the starting compensation for this position is $85,000, with potential for a higher salary based on your qualifications and experience, and potential for bonuses. Compensation: The starting compensation for this position is $85,000 annual but is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and bonus potential
