ESL/TAG Teacher

Full job description

The Coon Rapids Bayard Community School is seeking a highly motivated Elementary English as a Second Language Teacher and Talented and Gifted Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

We are looking for a passionate ESL/TAG Teacher who will be responsible for teaching English as a second language to our K-12 students. In this position, you will create lesson plans, develop instructional materials, and assess students’ progress. You will also be expected to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment to help students improve their English language skills.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English language
• Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
• Iowa Teaching License (with appropriate endorsements)
• Mandatory Reporter: Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse

Responsibilities

• Teach English as a second language to students of various ages and proficiency levels.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of individual students and groups.
• Assess students’ language abilities and tailoring instruction to meet their needs.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
• Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
• Maintain an inventory of classroom instructional supplies, textbooks, and materials, and exercise control of the care of the same.
• Be informed of the educational philosophy, goals, and policies of the district.
