Job Overview
The Cooper County Road and Bridge Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Operator/Project Leader to join our team. This dual-role position involves the operation of heavy machinery and the leadership of projects for road and bridge. Responsibilities
Equipment Operator:
· Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including skid steer, excavators, loaders, graders, etc. in a safe and efficient manner for road and bridge maintenance and construction projects.
Project Leadership:
· Lead assigned road and bridge projects, ensuring completion within established timelines and budget constraints.
· Coordinate project schedules, allocate resources, and oversee the performance of team members to meet project goals.
· Monitor and assess site safety, equipment condition, and project progress, making adjustments as needed.
· Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
· Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of project progress, equipment usage, and materials, providing reports as required.
Qualifications
Experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years experience operating heavy equipment
· Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
· Education: High school diploma or GED; additional training or certification in equipment operation or project management is a plus.
· Licensing: Valid Class A CDL
Skills:
· Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
· Ability to lead, motivate, and manage projects effectively.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
