Position Summary:
The Associate Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and validating cost expenditures and reduction initiatives within the plant. Review manufacturing process activities; record and validate data; make recommendations about cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze manufacturing activities and document/validate changes in process to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect product profitability
- Work with CI/process teams to drive continuous improvement
- Analyze and recommend cost and cost savings
- Monitor the inventory cycle count adjustments – Analysis of scrap by product line
- Prepare and complete internal cost audits according to GAAP
- Maintain accuracy in the (SAP/ERP) systems
- Participate in ME closing and prepare all type of Journal entries as needed
- Cost savings from improvement initiatives
- Speed and accuracy of plant profitability drivers
- Accuracy in cycle count adjustments
- Plant performance leading indicators
- Accuracy in program profitability (Burden model)
- Participate in ad hoc initiatives and duties as required to meet organizational goals
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience; CPA or MBA preferred
- 2 years of cost accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledgeable on statistics
- Meet key competencies for the job
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to understand the manufacturing process
- Excellent report-writing, communication and IT skills
- Good understanding of costing principles and systems
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
- Professional Office Environment
- Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
- Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
- Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
