As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities : communication, teamwork, job knowledge and leadership.POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Control Inspector is responsible for checking and inspecting welds and fabrication processes in accordance with the AISC Standards. This position is also responsible for completing audits and necessary paperwork.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following : Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities : Safety, Quality, ProductionInterpret blueprints to fabricate structural steelDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirementsSet up components for welding equipment in accordance with specificationsAlign components using tape measure and squaresWeld components using semi-automatic welding equipment in horizontal and flat positionsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyWork with minimal supervision to complete work tasks assignedProvide evaluations and recommendations on performance of systems and operationsAssist and Estimate hours on new job based on shop capabilitiesWork in observance of OSHA and NIOSH safety standardsOther duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo supervisory responsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.WORK ENVIRONMENTPosition performs work mostly in the Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions : noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine / equipment use. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.
