Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a proven track record in construction or engineering accounting. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), managing complex financial operations, and contributing to the financial success of the organization. Candidates must possess at least 10 years of progressive accounting experience within the construction or engineering sectors and either hold a CPA designation or be actively pursuing certification.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with tax accountants to ensure timely and accurate submission of tax-related documents, supporting compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Accurately input, update, and reconcile financial data in accounting systems while ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and organization.
- Provide guidance to leadership on tax implications of financial decisions while ensuring all financial records and reports comply with tax regulations and are prepared for external filings.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations and liaise with tax professionals to address compliance requirements and reporting deadlines.
- Support the preparation and review of payroll data, ensuring alignment with tax withholding and reporting standards.
- Contribute to internal audits by organizing and providing necessary financial data and ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities to optimize the use of Acumatica for improved financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Controller or company leadership to support organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements:
- 6-10 years of Construction accounting experience in a professional setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required; a master’s degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices is preferred; knowledge of AIA accounting and a strong understanding of GAAP are highly desired.
- Experience with Acumatica accounting software is preferred.
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records with accuracy.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial data.
- Self-starter with a proven ability to take initiative, adapt to new tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
