GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
The Staff Accountant is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and coordinating consumer accounting activities, funds, and transactions as well as providing other office support services that help to ensure an efficiently run organization and one that promotes a positive public image.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s preferred
Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail
Prior SSI Benefits experience preferred but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
General understanding of Fund Accounting software systems.
Acceptable Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) & Fingerprinting check.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Monitor consumer bank accounts to ensure compliance with balance requirements; work with Residential program management to ensure consumer records are accurately maintained and to identify any potential issues; maintain the rep payee checkbooks and write any personal checks needed.
Manages all aspects of Consumer’s Charges for Care including : maintain all consumers benefit information; billing; administering online transfers for rep payee consumers; applying payments; and reconciling with accounting systems; ensure regulatory compliance and related correspondence with consumer / guardians, as needed.
Ensure FRB money accounts are completed in accordance with established guidelines
Provide information and / or finance department / accounting support to Agency Managers as needed.
Reconcile and replenish all petty cash house accounts monthly in excel
Assume various and other related finance department / accounting duties as assigned by the VP of Finance to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
Perform all duties in conformance to, or in recognition of existing Agency philosophy, policies and procedures.
