Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our core team. As the Full-Charge Accountant, you will take ownership of all financial processes, including payroll, tip/close-out reconciliations, payment processing, and full accounting management with constitent, accurate financial records.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in payroll and accounting for hospitality or restaurants, who is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, works hands-on, and is eager to optimize financial systems, and collaborates well within our core team to maximize efficiencies and finances across the brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll & Tip Management:
- Oversee weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with wage laws
- Manage tip tracking, reporting, and close-out reconciliations for staff
- Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and perform monthly reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, P&L reports, and balance sheets
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments
- Payment Processing & Compliance:
- Manage credit card payment processing and bank deposits
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, including sales tax reporting
- Technology & System Optimization:
- Utilize accounting software and tools to streamline processes
- Learn and implement new technology to improve financial workflows
- Hospitality-Focused Financial Oversight:
- Understand the nuances of restaurant and hospitality accounting, including food and beverage cost tracking, labor costs, and inventory control
- Collaborate with management to develop budgets and forecasts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role, preferably within corporate accounting and/or in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Paychex) and payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, tip handling, and compliance regulations.
- Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliation processes.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated.
- Ability to adapt to new software and systems quickly, while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with employees and management regarding payroll matters.
