Copaken Brooks is seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Engineer with commercial high-rise office building experience located in Kansas City, Missouri. The HVAC Maintenance Engineer will perform various inspections and follow up on deficiencies to improve and maintain the physical appearance and mechanical integrity of the property, while promoting positive tenant and customer relations.
Typical Duties

Consistent maintenance and resolution of facility functions – such as alarms, power (outages), water damage and usage, temperature control, plumbing, changing lights/ballasts, minor repairs and related property updates.

Maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, fire sprinkler and both pneumatic and electronic building control system management and compliance.

Respond to tenant calls, emergency and maintenance issues immediately, notifying the appropriate party and resolving such issues in a timely and accurate manner.

Perform HVAC installation, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance, with notice to system servicing and working condition.
Work Relationships
This position reports to the Director of Engineering, but this position will also interact heavily with other CB employees and management, as well as tenants within the Downtown Properties.
Qualifications
- Minimum (3) three years recent work experience in commercial office environment; on call for at least (1) one of the three years
- Working knowledge of:
- HVAC equipment
- Chillers
- Air Compressors
- Air Handlers
- Cooling Towers
- Pumps and Motors
- Fan Coil Units
- Piping and Plumbing
- Exhaust Fans
- Fire Systems
- Generators and Switchgears
- Electrical, plumbing and general carpentry EMS and HVAC experience a plus
- High school diploma, an Associate Degree OR HVAC/Maintenance Engineer program certification.
- Universal CFC license – obtained within the first year of employment
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Basic computer knowledge required
- Willing and able to stand and walk for extensive periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (ladders, boxes, )
- Working in all weather conditions, stressful situations and construction environments
- Willing to be on-call for emergency situations as well as overtime flexibility, as needed.
- Assess/manage project legal, building, construction, safety, and other AHJ regulation compliance
- Identify/implement internal operations improvement opportunities (processes, reports)
Salary : $32 - $36
