Schedule Commitment
Regular job attendance is an essential job function, Monday-Friday, with additional hours as may be needed 
on-call as a result of traffic signal problems or sign knockdowns.

Pay Plan

This opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #8.The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.

Max $32.15 ($66,862)

  • March 10-14: Candidates invited to move forward in the next step of our hiring process will be invited to complete a DISC Assessment and participate in a panel interview.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in traffic sign construction and signal maintenance or a related field.
  • Valid Class C Commercial Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • I.M.S.A. Level I Signs and Pavement Markings Certification (or ability to acquire within one (1) 
    year).
  • I.M.S.A. Level I Traffic Signal Field Technician Certification (or ability to acquire within one (1) 
    year).
  • General aptitude for and understanding of mechanical and electrical devices.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive technical and working knowledge of traffic signals and control devices, including installation guidelines and maintenance requirements.
  • Understanding of public works construction techniques related to paving, drainage, traffic flow, and the installation of traffic control devices.
  • Knowledge of safe operation procedures for maintenance, sign construction, installation equipment, hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Familiarity with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and other relevant technical resources.
  • General knowledge of reporting processes and computer systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and signal/signage compliance standards.
Skills
  • Skilled in operating a variety of hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with coworkers and the 
    general public using the English language.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of maintenance and traffic control equipment.
  • Skilled in reading and comprehending technical information from manuals, handbooks, and regulations.
Abilities
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to ensure compliance with regulations and workplace safety.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to frequent changes in priorities.
  • Ability to perform duties in an outdoor, noisy, and potentially distracting environment with exposure to 
    various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and perform under time constraints.
  • Ability to safely operate a wide range of tools, power equipment, and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to understand and comply with technical guidelines, ensuring proper application of traffic control standards.
  • Ability to apply computer knowledge to maintain accurate records and reports.
