Schedule Commitment
Regular attendance is an essential job function and duties are routinely performed from 8:00-5:00, Monday-Friday.
Pay Plan
This opportunity is non-exempt and on Pay Grade #15. The full Pay Grade Range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity.
Hiring Range: $31.16-$38.17Mid $38.17 ($79,390)
Max $45.18 ($93,971)

Experience
Required
- Associate’s degree in Construction, Surveying, or Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, with a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Construction or GIS mapping.
- Extensive contact and interaction with the general public.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Preferred
- Survey Experience
- Municipal Government Experience
- Experience using technical software to generate plans and maps
- Experience with GIS database software such as Esri
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge
- Construction standards, engineering, drafting, and design principles.
- Reading, interpreting, and preparing construction and engineering documents.
- Performing technical calculations for engineering specifications and floodplain determinations.
- Data management and updates through various software interfaces.
- City policies, budgeting, procedures, and ordinances.
- Communicating and explaining City policies to the public and stakeholders.
Skills
- Logs and routes permit applications, proposals, drawings, and data in a database.
- Prepares technical and statistical documents.
- Creates documents and exhibits using manual drafting and CAD technology (preferably AutoCAD).
- Maintains filing and record retention systems.
- Utilizes GIS software (Esri) or learns under direction.
- Operates office and reprographics equipment.
- Uses hand tools, surveying equipment, and radar equipment in the field.
Abilities
- Plans, prioritizes, and adapts to changing tasks under time constraints.
- Communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Explains City policies and procedures to various stakeholders.
- Works independently and collaboratively.
- Learns and applies new technologies.
- Safely operates a City vehicle.
