Role Accountabilities:
- Mine Planning: Develop and implement strategic, long-term and short-term mine plans, ensuring
- Pit Design and Optimization
- Strategic Schedule
- Ore Reserves Reporting
- Cost and Cutoff Grade Analysis
- Cash Flow Analyses
- Life-of-Mine Budgets and Forecasts: Prepare budgets and forecasts for the mine operation.
- Project Support: Provide mine planning support to the Copper World Integrated project team.
- Short-Term Mine Planning: Develop three-monthly, monthly, weekly, and daily mine plans.
- Facility Planning: Plan waste dumps, stockpiles, and the support of construction of other
- Drill and Blast Engineering: Plan of operation and ongoing improvements in drill and blast
- Productivity Analyses: Conduct productivity analyses and improvement studies.
- Production Accounting: Oversee production accounting.
- Stockpile Inventory Accounting: Manage stockpile inventory accounting.
- Mine Equipment Studies: Conduct studies on mine equipment.
- Mine Surveying: Ensure compliance with survey operating standards.
- Technical Data: Compile and analyze technical data.
- Mine Model: Provide leadership and ownership of the Long-Term Planning and Medium-Term Planning
- Team Leadership: Supervise and develop a team of mine planners, engineers, and other relevant staff,

- Coaching and Mentoring: Coach, mentor, and develop Senior Engineers to build both
- Operational Efficiency: Optimizes mine operations by ensuring that plans are practical, economical, and
- Budget Management: Manages the mine planning budget, ensuring that resources are allocated
- Project Support: Be part of the Copper World Integrated project team.
- Reporting and Communication: Provides regular reports to management on the status of mine plans,
- Business Improvement: Participate in Identifying business improvement opportunities.
- Generate innovative solutions, which continuously improve the performance of existing
- Continuous Improvement: Identifies opportunities for improvement in mine planning processes and
- Risk Assessment: Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task
- Health, Safety and Environmental compliance: Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Hudbay’s
- Drive and develop the safety culture within the Mine Planning department,
- Act as a role model in complying with and supporting Hudbay’s Health, Safety and
- Report all incidents and accidents, ensure they are investigated, and complete corrective
- Stakeholder Management: Liaises with various stakeholders, including other departments within the
Minimum Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree: A degree in mining engineering is required.
- Advanced Degree: A post-graduate degree is considered a strong asset.
- Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of proven experience in mine engineering in open pit
- Specialized Mine Planning Software: Proficiency in mine design and planning software is essential;
- Reporting and Presentations: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power
- Technical Expertise: Possesses a strong technical background in mining engineering, geology, surveying
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are required.
