SUMMARY
Manages a team of Project Managers and oversees portfolio of development programs as part of the site Project Management Organization. This role is responsible for the success of the development portfolio year over year to drive predictable and profitable demand and works with their team to ensure customer satisfaction. As a manager, this role interacts with the sales platforms to work through the proposals for new development projects and drives continuous improvement efforts in the PMO Group; and ensures alignment of the development team with both local and global targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversees the development portfolio at the site level and coordinates with development, supply chain, sales, and operations to drive profitability and client satisfaction
- Works with Supply Chain and Finance and other cross functional groups (including sales and platform managers) to review overall supply agreements for the portfolio to build robust budget and capacity assessments for the site
- Leads effort to determine standard FTE and costs for development activities. Manages oversight of development proposals and ensures regular review and updates as needed
- Along with their team, analyzes data for the portfolio both retrospectively and proactively to help drive updated standards for costing, time estimation, and resource requirements for commercial processes. Collaborates with development programs to ensure alignment with incoming new projects and outgoing new RFPs
- Leads effort to determine KPIs to track commercial process performance and recommends actions based on trending and financial forecasting / scheduling
- Leads a high performing team of Project Managers that oversee commercial programs in a competitive CDMO environment. Performs all functions of a line manager such as hiring, performance management, and other leadership duties
- Audits the performance of commercial API projects managed by their team to identify situations requiring escalation; projects that are at risk of missing scope, schedule, or financial targets; or PMs in need of mentoring or training; and provide the necessary guidance to realign the project
- Escalates and resolves project resource constraints with other department managers, while maintaining a collaborative relationship between departments
- Works with PMs and other department leaders to identify root causes of project milestone slippage for continuous improvement efforts. Ensures leading KPIs are in place to anticipate issues
- Supports the harmonization of the Global PMO initiatives and works with global functions to standardize across sites
- Works with SIOP Team on scenario modeling and proposal of resolution with impact if conflicts arise. Makes recommendations for any project in portfolio to drive client satisfaction and cost reduction / profit increase
- Provides backup to the PMO Director as needed
LEADERSHIP & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing team leadership and tracking of PMO Budget. Also responsible for project budget oversight and tracking. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with Corden policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory responsibilities include daily leadership of team; training and development; interviewing and hiring; managing time and attendance records; performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving daily problems and conflicts.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or other science-based degree preferred. Other demonstrable experiences may also be applicable. Five years’ CDMO industry experience. Five years’ experience leading teams in industry. Ten years of advanced scientific experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry, or a combination of Pharmaceutical Industry and applicable regulated experience. Understanding of project management deliverables and methods including their development and maintenance from a pharmaceutical perspective.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and analytical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to site and global leadership.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent PMI certification is required.
