We are looking for a motivated, energic individual to join us in our Overland Park, KS market as a Commercial Lender with a focus in Commercial and Industrial relationship acquisition. This individual will be responsible for generating new business and strategically building long term commercial customer relationships.
The Commercial Lender is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting, and maintaining commercial relationships, while ensuring compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. We are looking for a motivated, energic individual to join us in our Overland Park, KS market as a Commercial Lender with a focus in Commercial and Industrial relationship acquisition. This individual will be responsible for generating new business and strategically building long term commercial customer relationships.
The Commercial Lender is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting, and maintaining commercial relationships, while ensuring compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. The Lender will maintain a working knowledge of all Core Bank products and services and focus on business development and customer retention by assessing and satisfying customer needs.
The Responsibilities For This Role Include
- Develop new loans and deposits both from new clients and existing customer base.
- Identify and cross-sell a wide range of commercial banking services by following a proactive, value based, sales and development plan.
- Obtain tax returns and financial statements from applicants. Analyze corporate and personal financial data to determine credit risk.
- Underwrite commercial loans with the assistance of a credit department. Prepare and analyze debt service repayment ability. Evaluate and determine credit worthiness in accordance with Core Bank credit policies. A strong background in financial statement analysis is required.
- Compile loan proposal information and present loans which exceed credit authority to loan committee for recommendations and approval.
- Ensure that sound analysis and lending practices are followed. Act in compliance with Core Bank’s Lending Policy at all times.
- Service loans in portfolio to retain high loan quality level. Monitor customers’ financial condition, loan performance and repayment process. Take appropriate corrective action as necessary and reports such information to supervisor. Corresponds with customers with delinquent accounts, counsels borrowers to bring accounts current and provides guidance for customers seeking solutions to financial problems.

- Participates in community activities to increase the Bank's visibility.
- Manage large and complex loan customers.
- Work in a collaborative team environment with thorough communication and support of group decisions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial lending experience within a banking institution, preferably focused on C and I lending
- Experience in business development with a proven track record of portfolio growth
- Valid Driver's License

- Strong business development and credit risk assessment skills
- Strong understanding of applicable banking regulations
- Maintains a continuing knowledge of changes in banking law and regulation
- Strong knowledge of relevant computer software skills, such as CRM, Word, and Excel
- Must have outstanding influencing, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to quickly forge strong working relationships is essential
- Ability to partner with adjacent teams such as Treasury, to expand the customer relationship
