Summary
The Director of Community Banking is tasked with strategically leading and managing commercial banking activities. The primary purpose is to contribute to the bank’s purpose of Building Better by fostering business growth, managing risks, and cultivating strong client relationships. This leadership role involves overseeing a high-performing team, formulating and executing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the financial success of businesses in the region through responsible lending practices
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is directly responsible for the management and development of the Commercial Relationship Managers within the Nebraska market, as well as oversight of Arizona and Kansas market directors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial banking strategy aligned with the bank’s purpose of Building Better, ensuring sustained growth and profitability within all markets.
- Team Management: Lead, inspire, and manage a high-performing team of commercial banking professionals. Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture focused on achieving business objectives and providing exceptional service to clients.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective commercial clients. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand client needs, tailor financial solutions, and contribute to the overall success of businesses in the region. Take a comprehensive approach to customer interactions; keep the holistic customer relationship top of mind. Collaborate with various business lines to build strong, long-term relationships.
- Risk Management: Work closing with the Risk Management and Credit Administration teams to implement effective risk management practices to safeguard the bank’s interests while facilitating responsible lending. Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and mitigate potential risks.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships within Nebraska. Proactively contribute to the bank’s growth initiatives and maintain a keen awareness of the competitive landscape.
- Financial Analysis: Make informed lending decisions aligned with the bank’s risk appetite and financial objectives.
- Reporting: Provide regular and insightful reports to senior leadership, offering a comprehensive overview of the commercial banking portfolio’s performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Technology Adoption: Embrace and adopt new technology to drive growth, enhance productivity, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving business landscape. Willingness to learn new tools, software, and processes to streamline workflows, improve efficiency in an effort to Build Better.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or similar, or commensurate experience.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in commercial banking, with a demonstrated record of success in leadership roles.
