About the Role:
Our Core BTS client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join their Global Hosting Services Group (HSG). This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining production systems within their Atlanta, GA data centers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with network infrastructure, system implementation, troubleshooting, and enterprise-level production support.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Support & Implementation
- Install, configure, and maintain data center networks, servers, and storage systems
- Implement and manage change control processes per corporate standards
- Develop and maintain inventory and environmental monitoring systems
- Execute projects efficiently, ensuring follow-through to completion
Network Design, Maintenance & Security
- Manage firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers
- Design and optimize LAN/WAN networks across data centers
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco, Checkpoint, and SonicWall devices
- Maintain and optimize F5, Kemp, and Coyote Point load balancers
- Configure Site-to-Site VPN, SSL, and IPSec remote access VPNs
- Monitor and optimize network performance using SNMP, LDAP, and Active Directory
- Configure and manage switching, VLANs, and network segmentation
Enterprise System & Application Support
- Provide technical support for enterprise systems, including Java/J2EE and .NET on Windows
- Troubleshoot and maintain high-availability environments
- Utilize HTTPWatch, Wireshark, and TCPDump for network analysis and troubleshooting
- Analyze and mitigate security risks, responding to security events
Monitoring & Automation
- Develop and manage Linux shell scripts and MySQL/PHP scripts for system monitoring
- Monitor Apache, Tomcat, and Java-based applications
- Leverage open-source monitoring tools such as Zabbix, OpenNMS, Nagios, OCS Inventory, and Spiceworks
- Implement proactive alerting and monitoring solutions for storage, network, and applications
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in technology, computer science, or a related field
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, XEN, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with Active Directory and domain controllers
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and participate in an on-call rotation
