The Piping Design Group Manager is responsible for leading the design and layout of piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This role involves providing technical guidance, managing assigned staff, and overseeing project schedules and budgets. The manager will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors to deliver high-quality piping designs. This position requires strong leadership skills and expertise in 2D and 3D design software. Some travel may be required.
Piping Design Group Manager Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of piping designers to develop and execute piping system designs.
Oversee the production of piping layouts, system arrangements, and fabrication drawings in 2D and 3D environments.
Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards such as ANSI, ASME, and PFI.
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design issues and ensure project requirements are met.
Review and approve system designs, calculations, and specifications to identify potential construction challenges.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, including training and professional development.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Research and interpret regulatory documents, contract specifications, and shipyard requirements.
Ensure compliance with safety factors, tolerances, and design specifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Piping Design Group Manager Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in piping design, preferably in the marine or industrial sector.
At least two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Proficiency in 2D / 3D AutoCAD (2014 or later).
Experience with piping system layouts, diagrams, and 3D modeling.
Knowledge of CAD / CAM software such as FORAN, AVEVA, NUPAS CADMATIC, or Ship Constructor.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve design challenges.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong communication skills to interact with management, employees, and external stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (No sponsorship available).
