General Manager - Marine Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Marine Operations team, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency, optimize fleet utilization, and achieve business growth objectives.
- Collaborate with the executive team to set operational goals, budgets, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the day-to-day marine operations, including vessel scheduling, route planning, cargo management, and fuel delivery.
- Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Monitor fleet performance and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety culture across all marine operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company standards.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state maritime laws and regulations, ensuring the company’s compliance.
Financial Management:
- Manage the marine operations budget, including cost control, resource allocation, and financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and revenue enhancement.
- Provide regular financial and operational performance reports to the executive team.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, regulatory authorities, and local communities.
- Represent the company at industry events, meetings, and negotiations to enhance the company’s reputation and business opportunities.
Personnel Development:
- Recruit, train, and mentor marine operations staff to develop a high-performing team.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5 years of experience managing a US tug and barge fleet
- Proven experience in a leadership role
- Ship captain with product transport experience preferred
- Travel required
