Senior National Sales Manager Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and motivate a team of parts sales representatives to consistently meet or exceed sales targets. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and support to improve individual and team performance
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer retention and foster growth over the previous year.
- Standardize operational processes across the various parts sales locations
- Develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers, focusing on high-priority sectors. Set specific targets for the percentage of sales driven by new customers, with a goal to expand the customer base.
- Monitor key sales metrics, such as the percentage of sales from new customers, sales cycle efficiency (from qualified lead to order intake), and market share growth. Take proactive steps to ensure sales targets and KPIs are met.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners. Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide exceptional service to ensure long-term loyalty.
- Streamline and optimize the Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) process to improve time to quote, time to order, and win rates. Work with sales operations to reduce inefficiencies and improve conversion rates from qualified leads to order intake.
- Work closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer and service orders.
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and reports. Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions when necessary to meet or exceed targets.
- Lead efforts to expand the addressable market by identifying new business opportunities and increasing market share. Analyze market trends and competitor activities to ensure competitive positioning.
- Develop and implement training programs for the parts sales team to improve product knowledge, sales skills, and customer engagement.
- Manage pricing strategies and negotiate with customers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years in parts sales management or related field, with a strong track record of sales success and team leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of the power generation or marine engine markets as well as the processes of parts sales, industry regulations, and customer needs.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to make informed decisions.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build long-lasting relationships with clients.
- Proficiency in CRM and ERP systems as well as Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel as needed for customer visits, trade shows, or other business needs (up to 50%)
