Position Summary:
The Elmira Distribution Center (EDC) Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the (EDC) operations by implementing effective, safe, ergonomically sound methods and LEAN-focused strategies. Plan and direct all activities and employees on a day-to-day basis to achieve the planned production/efficiency goals. Assist the Sr. Operations Manager in policy and long-term planning of the EDC operations as they affect Corelle Brands and any associated business relationships. Manage operating functions to achieve plant manufacturing efficiency, gross margin, cost reduction, quality, safety, and service to our customers. Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity using a participative, hands-on approach.
- Leads efforts to meet or exceed objectives for Safety, Productivity, Quality, Customer Service and Housekeeping. Manages day-to-day operational activities and works in a team environment with all other departments at the EDC.
- Work with maintenance and outside resources as necessary to bring equipment back online quickly to minimize customer impact.
- Initiate and participate in operational reviews and other efforts leading process improvements. and cost reduction activities by utilizing the LEAN methodology and Kaizan principles.
- Achieve planned production levels, production variance, maintain outgoing quality at the planned/budgeted levels while ensuring plant safety, health and housekeeping policies and procedures are followed at the EDC.
- Develop, promote, and support continuous improvement/cost reduction projects. Identify, prioritize, and staff these initiatives that directly impact profitability.
- Monitor work and processes to ensure product is moved correctly from trailer to rack to shipping.
- Recognize and troubleshoot problems with production equipment as needed. Work with maintenance and outside resources as necessary to bring equipment back online quickly to minimize customer impact.
- Oversee schedule for distribution assuring required resources are available to support customer shipments and inbound receipts in an efficient manner.
- Develop, promote, and support a lean culture environment and continuous improvement/cost reduction projects. Identify, prioritize, and staff these initiatives that directly impact profitability.
- Utilize data driven decision-making processes. Set goals such as budgets, capabilities, and capacities necessary and sufficient to achieve “Total Customer Satisfaction.”
- Develop operating plans required to achieve strategic goals and metrics.
- Partner with Human Resources with reviews, disciplines and counsel for personnel as required to maintain a prominent level of employee performance.
- Establishes systems to monitor key performance measures (score cards) and to improve performance.
- Consistently execute the Quality System and work procedures pertinent to the position.
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with distribution receiving / picking / shipping operations or a combination of Associate’s degree with significant relevant experience.
- Consumer Packaging Goods (CPG) experience a plus
- Knowledge of SAP warehouse receiving process, component storage, material ordering, material movement, shipment posting and yard management
- Proven leadership skills and effectively leads by example and has the confidence to lead a cross-functional team.
- Demonstrated skills in communicating (written and oral) with peers, team members, executive management and with others in the industry.
- Demonstrated skills in effective planning, analysis, problem solving, judgment and decision making.
- Experience utilizing MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to recognize, question, and develop solutions for technical issues in operations, maintenance, logistics, quality, environmental and safety.
- Lean or Six Sigma training a plus
- Business Intelligence (BI), Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Business Warehouse (BW) knowledge a plus
Salary : $1,071 - $1,365
