GENERAL SUMMARY: Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations consisting of: Two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode; trans esophageal; exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms; saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients. Instruction of medical personnel in the technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound. May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students. This is a Cardiac Ultrasound position; only RDCS, ACS, or RCS credential is required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform and interpret cardiac ultrasound procedures. Maintain daily operations of the department. Training of medical personnel and patient education. Completion of all documentation requirements. Adherence to department policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of patient safety, confidentiality, quality of care and efficiency are maintained. Fulfillment of competencies required by department and hospital. Flexibility to adapt to all work situations and to master new technological advancements in the field of cardiac ultrasound. Coordination of departmental in-services’ and educational information sharing. Education / Training: Minimum requirements: Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program and/or significant clinical experiences as determined by the department. Preferred requirements: Bachelor’s degree Work Experience: Preferred: Minimum of two years (full-time) experience in the performance of all cardiac ultrasound procedures for adults. Certification, Licensure, Registration: RDCS or CCI (no exemption accepted, must pass both parts of exam) status is required by department. Required: BCLS Other Qualifications: Analytical problem-solving is essential to optimize and enhance image acquisition for physician’s interpretation. Computer literacy is required. Professionalism and communication/interpersonal skills are critical. Cooperative, team oriented, flexible, and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude are qualities essential to successfully fulfill job responsibilities.
