What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Educator Mission Control position at Corewell Health?
Job Description:
This role is focused on onboarding and orientation for new employees within the Medical Center (MC) as well as competencies and education when new products or workflows are implemented.
You will partner with Nursing Informaticists to create new workflows, splitting your time between working from home and working on site to meet with new employees during onboarding and orientation.
You may also need to be on site for specific training opportunities.
This role will have an every 5th weekend on call expectation at some point after training.
Nurse Educator Responsibilities:
- Facilitate professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert.
- Serve as a change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, and partner for clinical practice transitions.
- Develop and implement orientation programs to ensure new hire/transfer employees have the knowledge and skills to safely practice independently in their role.
- Create competency programs to assess and improve employee knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to address deficits in employee knowledge and skills.
- Design and develop educational opportunities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills, and practice.
- Apply research, evidenced-based practice, and quality improvement principles in education, professional role development, orientation, and competency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Preferred Master's Degree in Nursing Education or Adult Education
- 5 years of relevant clinical experience related to area of focus
- Required Education and program development
- Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan upon hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross within 90 days
