About the Practice
Radiation Oncology is a subspecialty in Cancer Care that offers professional growth and critical understanding of cancer treatment. This practice supports over 100 patients daily receiving radiation treatment. Our department has 8 physicians that rotate between all 3 of our West Michigan Radiation oncology sites within Corewell. Our physicians see patients for consultation outpatient as well as bedside consultations at Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals. This office offers a fast-paced team focused environment. With high volume patient census, our team works to care for each individual patient and their families every day.
About Lemmen Holton Cancer Center
We treat cancer using the latest technologies and treatments including gene sequencing of tumors, targeted therapy and advanced oncology surgery techniques. We use a team approach to care, bringing together different areas of expertise that specialize in any type of cancer.
The Lakeshore Area Radiation Oncology Center (LAROC) is a comprehensive, outpatient radiation therapy treatment center founded in 1993. Coming together, Holland Hospital and Corewell health continue to collaborate, providing premier cancer care to West Michigan Lakeshore communities. LAROC is accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology.
The Corewell Health Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center is a comprehensive regional treatment facility bringing together the full range of services for patients and families on their cancer journey. The cancer center offers radiation therapy, chemotherapy, outpatient infusion therapy and a wellness center, which includes a library, boutique, gift shop and an integrative therapy room. Scope of work
Directs the activities of clinical staff within assigned area and ensures the delivery of efficient, smooth patient flow and patient satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates the delivery of safe, efficient and timely patient care. Provides clinical care to patients as needed to support and facilitate smooth function, using the nursing process. Assures that a mechanism is in place to track and follow-up on diagnostic tests and referrals.
- Acts as a customer advocate and provides ongoing communication with customers, staff, and multidisciplinary team regarding customer, staff, management and quality issues.
- Assumes a leadership role and delegated appropriately to support staff to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.
- Conducts performance evaluations of staff, sets goals with staff and works with staff to improve performance, as necessary.
- Facilitates a positive work environment which supports staff and encourages professional growth. Guides, mentors, motivates, acts as resource and support to staff, encouraging continual growth as a professional and self-directed learning.
- Provides input into the budget, monitors monthly expenses and approves invoices as directed.
- Provides input into the development, implementation and evaluation of unit/department/division/service/goals and prioritizes them so that they are consistent with patient care/administration needs.
- Participates in process improvement activities/research studies, outcomes management in area of accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
- Two years of recent, relevant clinical experience Required.
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
