This position will serve as the Energy and Climate Equity Manager for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County. It will work under the direction and supervision of the Natural Resource Team Leader, supporting the Community Energy Program in satisfying goals for equitable engagement across the Long Island region.
Job Description
The Community Energy Program aims to serve members of disadvantaged communities with education and support for reducing home energy use and transitioning. The position will work to inform residents, multifamily business owners, and small businesses about clean energy strategies in their homes and businesses.
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining relationships with team members, community partners, and local stakeholders to address energy and climate inequities. This involves delivering information and providing education in various settings, such as community events, presentations, one-on-one phone calls, and coordinating with local energy contractors.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Program Development - 5%
- Apply Energy and Climate Equity subject matter knowledge to provide input in educational and outreach strategies.
- Influence the creation of program materials to address participant needs within the Community Energy Program.
- Assist in developing training resources for the Community Navigator Program in community engagement and energy literacy.
- Program Delivery - 25%
- Create innovative lesson plans in assigned areas of programming responsibility.
- Teach Clean Energy Education programming with discretion in accordance with the Plan of Work.
- Utilize various delivery methods, including workshops, public events, articles, web pages, and social media, to deliver programs.
- Program Evaluation - 5%
- Implement program evaluation as designed.
- Analyze program data and make improvements based on analysis.
- Interpret evaluation data to constituents as appropriate.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Direction - 25%
- Plan the delivery and structure of educational program goals via various methods.
- Plan fund development activities and participate in grant writing teams as necessary.
- Direct/organize community focus groups and advisory committees to support programming initiatives.
- Management - 30%
- Provide guidance for educational programs and ensure they conform to the Associations Plan of Work.
- Solve problems and resolve conflicts arising in assigned programs.
- Allocate program resources to accomplish Association program objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid Drivers License and ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities according to those set by the team and supervisor.
- Ernest desire to empower households and communities to create change and patience to move at the speed of trust.
- Demonstrated program implementation and evaluation experience.
- Experience establishing and working with community stakeholders, especially those with limited income and living in disadvantaged communities.
- Demonstrated ability to research, plan, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs.
