What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forge Machine Operator position at Cornell Forge?
We are currently recruiting for a Forge Machine Operator. Machine Operators are responsible for the set-up,
operation and troubleshooting of forge hammers, presses and other related equipment. He or she will operate high
temperature furnaces, large hammers, presses and punch presses to shape and produce product for downstream
operations. Machine Operators directly affect the efficiency of the department and plant. We are hiring for 1st and 3rd
shift.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with supervisors to understand production needs.
• Read rate sheet to understand the operations that need to be performed.
• Use lift equipment to change dies in and out of the forge machines.
• Operate furnaces, hammers and presses to shape parts from raw material.
• Works and communicates with quality control personnel and supervisor to identify quality problems
or concerns.
• Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed in the work area.
• Other duties as required to successfully perform the job.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• High School diploma or GED.
• A desire to learn and have a good work ethic.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
• Previous experience in a production environment working with metal is preferred. On the job
training provided.
• Previous machine operating experience is preferred.
• Ability to read rate (process) sheets.
• Ability to push or pull up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hot environment.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and alternate shifts as required.
Salary: $18.00/hr. to start, with the potential to earn over $28.00/hr. after training and piecework incentive.
