About The Department of Academic Administration

The Department of Academic Administration provides the College support in delivering educational programming and faculty research. The College offers 2 different Bachelor programs, 14 different MBA, MPS, MS, MHA programs, and 3 different PhD programs with the intent of developing highly successful and ethical business leaders of the future. Relying on the pillars of performance learning, a collaborative community and Cornell’s vast connections, the SC Johnson faculty produce students equipped to excel in the current cross-functional, collaborative, digital economy.

The Opportunity

Join our dynamic, team-oriented environment as the Faculty Support Office Coordinator. This multifaceted role is vital to ensuring smooth communication, efficient administrative processes, and high-quality support for faculty members in teaching, research, and travel. As the first point of contact for faculty inquiries, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and well-organized office environment. Key Responsibilities :

Front Office Coordination

  • Coordinate office communication, monitor the faculty support email group address (EGA), and handle inquiries, including time-sensitive faculty requests and routing requests through a ticketing system (TDX).
  • Oversee mailroom operations, including sorting and distributing mail, managing deliveries, and maintaining faculty / staff mailboxes.
  • Maintain office supplies inventory, shipping needs, and the reconciliation of office expenses.
  • Organize and improve office operations, implement efficient procedures, and maintain an organized workspace.
  • Provide administrative support with regards to visitor coordination, faculty candidates, and student workers.
  • Generate reports to monitor the office budget and handle FedEx invoices.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new staff members and collaborate with student workers on tasks like replenishing coffee supplies.

General Class Support

  • Create name tents and handle class-related administrative tasks such as organizing and distributing assignments and exams.
  • Support event planning, including catering orders and arranging deliveries.
  • Order supplies for specific initiatives such as first-generation student programs.
  • General Faculty Support

  • Serve as a backup for other administrative assistants, assisting with vendor payments, reimbursements, and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain faculty teaching and research accounts, providing expense tracking and account updates.
  • Order supplies through e-shop or procurement card for faculty needs.
  • Handle faculty memberships and subscriptions.
  • General Research & Extension Support

  • Maintain the Working Papers & Extension Bulletin database, including document tracking and preparing materials for remediation and publication.
  • Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to special projects and responsibilities as needed, occasionally working above or below the current classification.

  • High school diploma and 2-4 years of relevant work experience

  • Accuracy in spelling, grammar, proofreading and attention to detail required.
  • Must take initiative, meet challenges with resourcefulness and tact, have ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
