Job Overview
The Assistant Director plays a crucial role in supporting the Director and selecting effective curriculum for classrooms within the center. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for early childhood development in a faith based environment.. The Assistant Director will play a key role in supporting, coordinating and providing the necessary resources, supervision, and leadership to ensure that young children receive nuturing care and education in a group setting at the center. Must be 18 years of age.
Duties
- Assist the Director and supervise staff to ensure compliance with Iowa DHS standards and regulations for a child care center.
- Collaborate with team members to implement effective strategies for fostering a healthy, safe, and enjoyable environment for staff, parents, children, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to program activities, staff performance, and child progress.
- Assist Director with training sessions for new employees and ongoing professional development for existing staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Monitor program effectiveness through data collection and analysis, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Skills
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to meet Iowa DHS standards and regulations for a child care center employee.
- Early childhood development degree or previous experience in child care or pre school setting.
- Obtain the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Posses a commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
- Excellent relationship management skills to foster collaboration among staff and clients.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate clear interactions across all levels of the organization.
