Academic Dean
Full-Time (32 hours per week) Position Description
Who we are: Cornerstone College & Seminary is a small Christian college in Fredericksburg, Virginia, serving a diverse student body and preparing individuals for God’s kingdom work in the local community and the world.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution, 3 years higher education experience
Duties: The Academic Dean responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the college mission and vision
- Live in accordance with the college code of ethics
- Serve as the college's Chief Academic Officer, coordinating the development, implementation, and achievement of the college’s Mission and Goals Statement;
- Lead and develop a dynamic, robust doctoral dissertation program
- Lead and coordinate college strategic curriculum development;
- Supervise, evaluate, and support degree programs in a manner that promotes excellence in instruction, scholarly and creative productivity.
- Lead and coordinate the preparation, maintenance, and processes to satisfy accreditation requirements
- Assist hiring of faculty selection and retention;
- Manage college faculty and evaluate them annually
- Coordinate the professional development of college faculty
- Lead regularly scheduled and special faculty meetings
- Maintain the college catalog
- Evaluate and implement sound college-wide syllabus formatting and content
- Review policies, procedures, and recommendations for appointment, salary, retention, and/or promotion of faculty
- Evaluate overall academic productivity in instruction, research, and service responsibilities
- Advise the college President of policies and procedures related to academic services
- Develop, lead, and encourage colleagues, administration, and faculty in support of the college's goals and the goals of its departments and programs, as well as outreach and public service efforts.
Annual salary: $36,000 Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation, holidays, 3 weeks holiday leave, flexible work hours/days and virtual work options
