Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
Advance Watchman
One or more Watchmen stationed at a point where they will have the best view of approaching trains on the track occupied by the work crew. More than one Advance Watchman may be required due to obstructions blocking their view. Advance Watchmen are to be stationed where their warning signal can be plainly seen and heard by the next Watchman closer to the work crew.
Flagger
An employee who has been annually trained and qualified to STOP trains and direct their movement at each entrance of the working limits. Flagmen will be properly equipped to provide visual and auditory signals and/or warnings. A Flagmans sole duty is to look out for approaching trains or RMMs (Roadway Maintenance Machine) and to STOP them from entering the working limits. Flagmen will not permit the movement of trains and equipment into the working limits unless authorized by their On-Site Coordinator.
Preferred Qualification
Skills and Competencies appropriate to the Jr., Mid or Sr. Level qualifications:
- Experience with providing similar flagger services on operating rail systems.
- Requires completion of MTA RWP training a one-day class for RWP 1.
- Able to speak English fluently or competently.
- No visual impairments.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to follow directions from the On-Site Coordinator.
- No, degree is not required
Minimum Experience
- Flagman with at least 2 years' experience.
- Experience on an operating transit system is preferred.
Expected Position Start Date
- 3/3/2025 Through February 2026
Position Location
Field- If field, how many days per week at a minimum varies based upon CMAR contractor schedules for performing work on MTA ROW. May require full time for one or more days and then no work for periods of time. Overtime may be required when working.

Salary Range is dependent on skill level and years of experience:
Junior 1-5 Years of Experience: $29,800 to $35,900 YR
Midlevel 5-10 Years of Experience: $42,601 to $49,185 YR
Senior: 10-15 Years of Experience $ $56,132 - $87,916 YR
