Role Purpose

Corning Community Impact & Investment is responsible for awarding philanthropic grants to tax-exempt educational, human services, and cultural not-for-profit organizations in the U.S. for the purpose of creating vibrant communities in selected U.S. cities and towns where Corning operates. This position is responsible for creating volunteer events in communities where Corning has locations to promote employee engagement and matches employee donations to a broad array of charitable organizations, with a focus on the Corning Valley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Programs
    • Curate and host select volunteer events in the Corning Valley to allow employees to engage with local not-for-profit organizations.
  • Benchmark volunteerism initiatives, programs, and goals in other U.S. businesses
    • Work closely with Finance Specialist & Grant Administration role who has responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of the YourCause database.
    • Utilize YourCause as a tool for volunteer events and train Corning employees on how to create and manage events.
    • Develop effective relationships with Corning’s United Way liaison to optimize volunteerism and donation opportunities.
  • Communications
    • Goal setting for outreach initiatives through communications tools (including Corning World Online, Blue Line, ERGs, etc.).
  • Main owner and lead admin of the Community Impact & Investment and Non-Profit Organization Board Service workspaces on Blue Line.
    • Act as a backup for CI&I website updates.
  • Board Support
    • Help connect employees looking for board service opportunities to not-for-profit organizations looking for board members.
    • Create and maintain records of employees with board interest.
    • Facilitation and record keeping of the annual DocuSign Indemnification and Board Service Acknowledgement.
    • Promote the employee not-for-profit organization board development sessions and not-for-profit organization board development sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years of experience in a related field.
  • Must be an effective communicator (both written and oral), able to work effectively with Community Impact & Investment colleagues as well as Corning employees in multiple locations and not-for-profits.
  • Able to work effectively with other employees within functions and groups who are driving and encouraging employee volunteerism.
  • Must exhibit professional skills including time management, ability to work independently, think creatively, be receptive to feedback, and achieve deliverables within deadlines.
  • It is important to demonstrate a willingness to learn and support the mission and work of Community Impact & Investment.
  • Technologically savvy and understands the full complement of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Working knowledge of not-for-profit organizations.
  • Not-for-profit board experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with YourCause or Blackbaud Grantmaking administration is a plus.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Successful track record of performance in chosen field
  • 1-3 years relevant work experience

The range for this position is $67,232.00 - $92,444.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
