Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
As a Glassmaking Operations Shift Supervisor, you will serve as the key point of contact for shift operations on a 24x7 schedule as it relates to safety, quality and productivity. You will provide the supervision and facilitation to a team of operators responsible for the manufacture and measurement of glass preforms and optical fiber. You will serve as a role model for safety, leading and facilitating the team to world-class, day-to-day, safety performance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities :
- Provides supervision and facilitation to a team of operators responsible for the manufacturing of glass preforms and optical fiber
- Serves as a champion for safety by demonstrating safe work practices, enforcing PPE compliance, and working to identify and address potential workplace hazards
- Understands and applies established guidelines, procedures, and policies
- Provides immediate supervision to subordinates to execute operations and meet production targets
- Provides daily feedback on individual and team performance
- Prepares and provides reports to supervisory chain
- Coordinates daily activities of team and support organizations
- Ensures the team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.
- Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.
- Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
- Implement and monitor training and certification plans for new employees
- Communicates openly and honestly with employees at all levels

The range for this position is $79,166.00 - $108,854.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
