Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Join our team as a Lead Project Manager for Optical Fiber and Cable Manufacturing, where you'll play a pivotal role in driving innovation, efficiency, and capacity expansion across global sites.

In this role, you will provide leadership to plan (scope), coordinate, and control complex projects aimed at enhancing Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing processes. Specifically, you will lead the cable component of the Trident Program, an ambitious initiative to triple FR Cable capacity by the end of 2026. This multi-site portfolio encompasses both operational and transformational changes, involving facilities in North Carolina (HCP, TCP), Poland (SCP), and Reynosa, Mexico (RCC). You will guide multiple workstreams and collaborate with site leadership to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute engineering projects by defining scope, financial impact, activities, and evaluation methods.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance understanding, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Coordinate staffing and resource allocation for optimal project performance.
  • Oversee equipment installation planning and cable specification development.
  • Monitor and enhance process performance and safety.
  • Ensure timely delivery of customer ship plans and project milestones.
  • Proactively identify and resolve challenges to keep projects on track.
  • Act as a division consultant and trainer for engineering analysis and modeling.

Travel Requirement Less than 25% this role involves travel to North Carolina, Reynosa (Mexico), and Strykow (Poland).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering disciplines.
  • 8 years of experience managing large projects for teams and facilities.
  • Proven expertise in project management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to analyze systems data, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors, and technical staff.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical capabilities to assess costs and develop alternatives.
  • Deep appreciation for safety in process design and implementation.
  • Self-starter with the ability to excel independently or in collaborative teams.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and training talent.

The range for this position is $174,390.00 - $239,786.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
