The Exercise Analyst assists the United States Marine Corps Forces, Central Command (MARCENT) and subordinate commands by serving within the plans and policy directorate task area. The position’s primary mission involves assisting and advising the COMUSMARCENT in joint-level and service-level planning, deliberate planning, crisis action planning, force deployment planning, and requirements development, validation, and prioritization. The Exercise Analyst directly supports plans and policy under the MARCENT G-5, including MARCENT exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment, to ensure the efficient execution of MARCENT OAMS tasks. The Exercise Analyst directly supports plans and policy under the MARCENT G-5, including MARCENT exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment, to ensure the efficient execution of MARCENT OAMS tasks. The Exercise Analyst will perform the following duties:
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide exercise analysis services that supports MARCENT exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment. Services shall include assisting in the management of the MARCENT Exercise Program.
- Assist in the development and review of exercise objectives, concepts, Mission Essential Task Lists (METLs), training plans, budgets, force deployment data, tables of organization, and force protection plans to ensure they meet requirements identified by higher headquarters as well as comply with Joint Staff and Service doctrine.
- Maintain MARCENT exercise-related web pages, historical files, and other required documentation.
- Maintain MARCENT Joint Training Information Management Systems (JTIMS) data.
- Plan and coordinate all requirements for exercise planning conferences; to include writing message traffic, developing presentations, and arranging for travel and hotel accommodations.
- Organize and assist with exercise planning conferences and site surveys.
- Compose weekly briefings to COMUSMARCENT, the MARCENT Staff, and external units.
- HS diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum ten years of military experience.
- Experience in designing, planning, executing, and assessing military exercises. Proven track record in managing an exercise program, including developing exercise objectives, concepts, Mission Essential Task Lists (METLs), and training plans.
- Experience in ensuring that exercise plans and objectives comply with Joint Staff and Service doctrine and requirements from higher headquarters.
- Proficiency in maintaining exercise-related web pages, historical files, and documentation. Experience with Joint Training Information Management Systems (JTIMS) or similar systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment processes.
- Familiarity with Joint Staff and Service doctrine, including Mission Essential Task Lists (METLs) and training requirements.
- Advanced proficiency with groupware applications (SharePoint, MS Teams) and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.) desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills desired.
- Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
- Travel is required.
- Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
- A Secret clearance is required for this position.
