Job Summary
The Community Corrections Case Officer is under the administrative supervision of the Program Manager. Work is performed in assessing, counseling, supervising and monitoring activities of offenders sentenced to the Community Corrections Program.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and performs casework services for an assigned caseload of felony offenders. Counsels with offenders in areas of family and community relations, employment, finances, educational and vocational training, and other pertinent matters. Monitors offender activities and maintains regular contact with offenders to monitor progress and to detect any signs of recurrent criminal behavior.
- Conducts home visits/curfew checks to review and monitor offenders compliance with court orders and established behavioral contracts. Provides timely and updated information to surveillance officers.
- Maintains up-to-date files on each offender to provide documentation of offenders compliance/noncompliance with established conditions of release.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports that may include monthly activity reports, investigation reports, violation reports, termination summary, etc.
- Monitors the fees paid by offenders for court costs, restitution, fines, supervision, and community corrections fees.
- Attends court to receive new intakes, obtains the required paperwork and files required documents.
- Conducts drug screens to insure offenders compliance with behavioral contracts or court orders.
- Obtains a basic knowledge of Tennessee Offender Management Information System (TOMIS) and may enter data into TOMIS.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or social or behavioral sciences.
- At least three years experience in professional criminal justice management, law enforcement, counseling work or in closely related field.
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License
