This role is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
CPI is looking for a hands-on individual to join our team as a Mechanical Integrity Engineer. Our ideal candidate will be a resident of the Little Rock, AR area and will be expected to successfully handle the following day-to-day tasks:
- Perform on-site inspections and condition assessments of metallic storage tanks, pressure vessels, and piping in industrial facilities, specifically pulp, paper, chemical, and water/wastewater.
- Investigate corrosion and other material-related failures of metallic and non-metallic equipment and structures.
- Interpret and analyze equipment condition data to determine equipment fitness-for-service utilizing applicable engineering codes and engineering best practices.
- Explore and implement cost-effective new technologies relative to inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Define and optimize predictive and preventive maintenance strategies using techniques such as FMEA, RBI, Criticality Assessments, etc.
- Manage small capital projects for fixed equipment improvements.
- Provide new/rehabilitation construction QA/QC.
- Develop detailed specifications and drawing packages.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (structural, chemical, etc.); liaise with designers, engineers, project managers and others.
- Prepare detailed technical reports under supervision of more experienced technical staff.
- Physical Requirements: this position requires the ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, lift and carry /-50lbs on occasion, using power tools for sample collection, as well as working at varying heights and in confined spaces.
- Typical Work Environments: confined spaces; on ladders, scaffolding, at heights; in facilities that are dirty, malodorous, hot, and loud.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Required:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (Metallurgical/Materials, Mechanical)
- 10 years of relevant experience in fixed equipment design, inspection practices, failure modes, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in maintenance, reliability, or asset management.
- Knowledge of Fixed Equipment Regulatory Guidelines including, but not limited to: ASME B31.3, Section VIII, API 510, 570, 580, 579, 620, 650, 653, NACE/AMPP.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to meet project deadlines within budgeted effort-hours.
- Ability and willingness to travel.*
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.**
Preferred:
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience in non-metallic composites (modified concrete, FRP, etc.).
- Pulp & Paper background and business development.
NOTES:
- *TRAVEL - Travel is typically for short-duration assignments in industrial facilities on a moderate basis; estimated ~25%.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are a must.
