What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Supervisor position at Cortec Corporation?
Leads the shipping team by overseeing problem solving and managing the staff in accomplishing goals. Improves processes and systems based on analysis of metrics and observations of inefficiencies. Focuses on meeting customer needs while balancing the costs to the organization.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership and Management
· Develops and maintains a positive work environment in the shipping department.
· Coaches’ employees on how to resolve problems or make improvements.
· Monitors and communicates daily work assignments and goals to the shipping staff.
· Interviews, selects, and oversees training of shipping personnel.
· Continues to develop team members and supports advancement within the organization.
· Facilitates and collaborates with other departments.
· Supports all EMS and QMS and safety program needs for shipping operations.
Shipping Operations
· Facilitates expedited inbound and outbound shipments of critical materials.
· Communicate with internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
· Identifies equipment purchase or warehouse facility improvement needs.
· Understand transportation tariffs or services to ensure optimized cost savings.
· Resolves problems concerning transportation, logistics imports or exports.
· Responsible for ensuring hazardous product shipping standards are met and staff are trained.
· Ensures day-to-day responsibilities are performed within the shipping department to a high standard.
Projects and Process Improvements
· Leads improvement projects regarding shipping equipment acquisition or optimization.
· Identifies and perform process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
· Responsible for shipping metric output.
· Works with the purchasing department to source supplies for cost savings when possible.
· Works with QMS committee on corrective actions and takes steps to reduce future occurrences.
· Works with other departments to facilitate improvements to cross department processes.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus additional degrees, certifications or supervisory experience
Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in a shipping environment required. A minimum of three years of experience working with shipping records required. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Experience with ERP or UPS WorldShip a plus.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
