About the Position
This exciting opportunity is for a Production Technician at our Grand Rapids, Ohio production location. As a valued team member, you will participate in various aspects of our operations, including harvest activities, general plant, field, and warehouse processes. Your duties will involve accurately monitoring highly automated equipment, product return and sorting activities, and field tasks such as scouting, inspection, and managing logistics. Additionally, you will utilize automation and computerized systems to perform work tasks and contribute to warehouse activities like forklift operation, collecting samples, pooling, and other assigned duties.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in harvest activities, including preparation, seed sampling, truck unloading, and other relevant processes
- Perform a variety of tasks associated with general plant, field, and warehouse operations that evolve throughout the year
- Accurately monitor highly automated equipment for processes such as harvesting, conditioning, treating, and packing
- Product return and sorting activities
- Field activities such as scouting, inspection, and managing logistics
- Utilize automation and computerized systems to perform work tasks (computers and iPads)
- Perform warehouse activities, including forklift operation, collecting samples, pooling, and other duties assigned
- Various other duties as required
Your Requirements and Qualifications
- You have your High School Diploma/GED or are willing and able to obtain it within 12 months of hire as a condition of employment
- One year of education and/or experience in operations, manufacturing, agriculture, or a related industry
- Versatility and willingness to learn and work in various areas (field, plant, warehouse)
- Ability to climb and/or work in elevated areas, stand and sit for extended periods, work outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform work involving repetitive motion and lifting
- Comfortable with technology and possess good computer aptitude, including Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- High attention to detail, multitasking, maintaining an organized workplace, and excellent problem-solving skills
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Valid US Driver's License
- Adherence to health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure personal and colleagues' safety daily
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime hours, including nights and weekends during seasonal peaks to support production demand
