What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Equity Associate (Cortina Capital Partners LLC) position at Cortina Capital Partners LLC?
Private Equity Associate - Cortina Capital Partners
About Cortina Capital Partners: Cortina Capital Partners is a South Florida based private equity firm focused on acquiring controlling stakes in lower middle market businesses with between $1 - $10 million of EBITDA.
Job Overview: Cortina Capital is seeking a motivated and ambitious Private Equity Associate with a background in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or consulting.
Cortina Capital values making thoughtful but relatively rapid investment decisions. (If you enjoy answering unending questions from an investment committee, this role won't be a good fit.) Cortina focuses on output (results and achievements) rather than input (hours worked). Cortina does not participate in banked or brokered processes; all deals are sourced via a proprietary manner.
The Associate will work on deal sourcing, live deal execution, and monitoring of existing investments. The Associate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Founder of the firm and interact directly with management teams and external advisors, lenders, and investors.
The position will be based at Cortina Capital’s Fort Lauderdale, FL office with occasional travel required. After 6 months, the Associate may be able to work remotely 2-3 days per week. Office dress code: casual.
Cortina Capital targets closing 6 – 10 transactions per year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities.
- Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and due diligence.
- Capital Raising: Assist in the preparation of marketing materials (investor presentations, data rooms) to support debt and/or equity fundraising efforts.
- Transaction Execution: Support the execution of transactions, including deal structuring, financial modeling, negotiation, and documentation. Collaborate with legal, financial, and operational teams throughout the process.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor portfolio company performance, implement strategic initiatives, and drive value creation. Prepare detailed performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or consulting with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), leveraged finance, or financial advisory.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Skills: Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a commitment to excellence.
What We Offer:
- Career Growth: Opportunities to work on high-impact transactions and gain exposure to all aspects of private equity investing and portfolio management.
- Collaborative Culture: A dynamic, fast paced environment that values innovation, teamwork, and professional development.
- Competitive Package: Attractive salary, bonus structure, benefits, and free membership to a local boat / jet ski club.
