Summary
The Project Accountant will provide accounting support to the regional business unit. This role will assist the Project Accounting Manager in all aspects of job costing, projections, financial review and customer invoicing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accounts Receivable invoicing: pay-applications preparation, progress billings, and lien waivers.
- Job costing: job cost adjustments, phase transfers, reconciling phase and job costs.
- Projections: project jobs on a monthly basis, enter projections into the ERP system.
- New job set up: Review and understand Contracts with Customers and ensure compliance.
- Sales and use tax review.
- Change order management: customers and subcontractors.
- Invoicing: generate invoices for T&M and lump sum contracts on a monthly basis.
- Accounts Payable: reconcile aging reports, follow-up with vendors on all aged open payables.
- Purchase Orders: maintain PO logs, track committed costs and manage PO’s in the ERP system.
- Contract maintenance: audit inquiry, compliance review.
- Tool and equipment billings: regional truck and equipment billing and audit tool inventory on a monthly basis.
- Financial statements: review and reconcile monthly regional financial statements.
- Administrative support for the business unit office.
- Support project reporting processes.
- Develop productivity tracking processes on a job by job basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education & Skills
- Two or more years of accounting, job costing, and project controls experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to interact effectively with others, both within and outside of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office including advanced MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Viewpoint ERP software is preferred.
Working Conditions
- Office environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds frequently & 20- 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work onsite in St. Paul, MN
