HR/Payroll Associate

Corwin Automotive Group in Fargo, ND is looking for a qualified candidate to fill an HR/Payroll Associate position that will support both the Corwin Subaru store in Moorhead and the Corporate office in Fargo. This individual will work closely with our Corporate Human Resource Manager.

The individual we are looking for will be a self-starting, detail-oriented individual that will be able to maintain confidential information and provide a positive employee experience for both new and existing employees. This individual will be face-to-face with employees on a daily basis and must maintain a positive and employee-focused attitude.

Payroll Administration

- Responsible for the preproduction and processing of semi-monthly payroll for approximately 100 employees.

- Performs all activities necessary to process payroll, including, but not limited to:

o Maintaining related records

o Filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports

o Processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments

o Preparing accounting transactions and documents

o Documenting and updating procedures

o Preparing special reports for management

- Assist with payroll administration in other locations as necessary

Benefit Administration

- Provides day-to-day benefits administration services and assist employees with any claim issues

- Manages and administers the benefits including scheduling and conducting benefits orientations and other benefits trainings

- Handles the enrollment in the carrier systems and in payroll system

- Administers the 401(k) plan and participates in yearly compliance reporting

- Administers FMLA, ADAAA, long-term disability and worker’s compensation claims

Full Cycle Recruiting

- Develop job descriptions for all roles at the Subaru store

- Perform pre-screening of applicants for departments and coordinate interviews with appropriate department managers

- Maintain personnel records of applicants, correspondence relating to the hiring decision fo the department, and accurate reporting for EEO purposes

- May present offer of employment to candidates and negotiate the detail with them

- Preparing the hire to start the job

- Conduct new hire orientations to onboard new employees

- Perform background checks on all new employees. Verifies accuracy of information received and prepares the necessary documentation for those with undisclosed criminal history.

Compliance

- Complies with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, and worker compensation.

- Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits

- Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations

- Assist with 401k and other audits as necessary

- Compliant and well informed on Minnesota State employment laws and other states as required

Other

- Assist Human Resource Manager with organization and planning of employee events and United Way campaign

- Assist with training and onboarding of human resource managers in other locations

- Scanning personnel records

- Filing and data entry

- Other duties as assigned

Requirements

- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word

- Ability to multi-task

- Strong communication skills

- Able to commute between Corwin Subaru (Moorhead) and the Corporate Office (Fargo) multiple times a week

- Past payroll experience preferred, but not required
