What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician position at Cory's Audio Visual?
Cory’s is looking for a tech-savvy, people-person to join our award-winning team.
The Service Technician provides direct and indirect support to our event and installation departments to deliver, install, set up, operate, troubleshoot, and repair audio visual technology. This technology can include, but is not limited to all audio, lighting, staging, rental, and video technology for temporary and permanent installations.
What will you do:
Technical Skills – Installation, wiring, troubleshooting, and repairing audiovisual (AV) technology, including projectors, speakers, monitors, and related equipment.
Problem-Solving – Diagnosing malfunctions, handling issues under pressure, and ensuring system functionality.
Communication – Engaging with clients, coordinating with team members, and providing updates to management.
Time Management – Ensuring timely job completion, submitting accurate paperwork, and meeting deadlines.
Quality Control – Conducting system tests, following installation standards, and ensuring proper functionality.
Teamwork & Collaboration – Working with dispatch, engineers, project managers, and service teams.
Attention to Detail – Proper documentation, accurate timekeeping, and adherence to safety standards.
Safety & Compliance – Follow safety protocols and use the required PPE.
What are We looking for:
Education & Experience – High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of AV experience in integration or live production.
Technical Knowledge – Proficiency with AV systems, digital audio consoles, DMX lighting, and sound system optimization.
Networking & Software – Experience with IP-based AV systems, playback/presentation software (Qlab, PowerPoint), and streaming platforms (Zoom, Teams, Vmix).
Reading & Interpretation – Ability to read and interpret line diagrams and floor plans.
Lighting Expertise – Understanding of DMX protocols and lighting for video applications.
Communication Skills – Strong verbal, written, and client-facing communication abilities.
Organizational Skills – Detail-oriented, able to multitask, and work efficiently.
Software Adaptability – Willingness to learn CRM and ERP software.
Valid Driver’s License – Clean driving record and valid insurance if using a personal vehicle.
Reliable Communication – Consistent and dependable mode of contact.
