Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the Costco Digital Services (CDS) organization.

Managers in the Value Management Office (VMO) are accountable for hiring the right people, establishing the value management framework, and reinforcing the CDS operating model. This successful candidate will implement the operating frameworks that ensure CDS is delivering value-driven business outcomes from the technology investments. The Value Management Office Manager will lead, equip, and empower a team of highly skilled delivery and program Managers in accordance with Costco’s value management delivery practices.

ROLE

      MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

      ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

      MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors’ employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

      COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

      SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

      INCLUSION: Encourages different approaches and ideas to work and to accomplish goals. Seeks employee input. Take the time to get to know or reach out to candidates who show potential that may not come forward on their own.

      COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

      Establishes a team of highly qualified and professional program experts to lead the delivery of priority programs.

      Designs a program framework that aligns with the CDS operating model and work across delivery methodologies (traditional, hybrid and agile)

      Develops program measures such as KPI’s, ROI, overall value realization and health of programs.

      Establishes program processes and standards across the organization, and drive organizational change and adoption.

      Owns key program related program management tools, processes and documentation to ensure efficient program planning, execution and monitoring (metrics).

      Hires vendor partners to fulfill the program roles as needed, and manage all aspects of vendor relationships and hold vendors accountable to established SLAs and Costco standards.

      Ensures efficient and effective communications of program related information to all levels of management and external partners.

      Advances the overall ability of CDS to deliver business value outcomes through the Value Management framework and CDS Operating Model.

      Leads VMO Program teams to define and manage business value deliverables and timelines, facilitate decision making and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place to deliver on defined solutions and ROI for each program.

      Advocates for and mentors’ others across the organization on the VMO framework, program methods and CDS Operating Model.

      Establishes an expectation of exceptional program professionals and reinforce it with development and training opportunities.

      Provides thoughtful and timely coaching and feedback to ensure department, business and company procedures and standards are met. Conducts yearly performance reviews.

      Develops and maintains positive working relationships across and between business and technology teams.

      Operates with a high sense of urgency and achieves progress against goals and metrics.

      Maintains a working knowledge of current program, Agile and change management trends and standards.

      This is a full-time management/leadership position (45 hours per week).

REQUIRED

      5 years of experience as a Program Manager with expert understanding of project management methodologies and experience managing.

      5 years’ experience managing a diverse portfolio of products and development stages (SDLC, Waterfall, Hybrid, Agile)

      Previous experience as a manager with direct HR responsibility of project, program or Agile delivery teams.

      Demonstrated knowledge of Program Management and Agile operating models.

      Experience hiring teams necessary to successfully deliver high visibility, priority projects.

      Proven experience leading program professionals to deliver high priority, high value programs.

      Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

      Able to support off hours work as required including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

Recommended

      BA/BS degree required; advance degrees preferred.

      Experience defining and measuring value and assessing return on investment.

      Agile certification and experience leading agile teams.

      Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Range: $137,000 - $210,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
