Job Summary
The Midstream Accountant reports directly to the Midstream Accounting Manager and is responsible for
supporting the Midstream Accounting function within the Operations Accounting department.
- Analyze marketing contracts to ensure revenues are recorded accurately
- Partner with field personnel to understand upcoming changes in operations
- Perform allocations of sales and expenses to wells based on invoices, marketing arrangements,
- production volumes, and pipeline deliveries
- Prepare WASP and weighted average costs statements
- Apply cash receipts
- Send monthly 3rd party invoices to appropriate parties
- Support internal and external audits as needed
- Interface with other partners, producers, and customers
- Assist with AP marketing invoices
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and makes adjusting entries as needed
- Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reports via spreadsheets
- Prepare and record journal entries as needed
- Participate in accounting period close activities to ensure financial records and reports are accurate
- Assist with performing analysis of trends and other financial impacts to the company
Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in computing skills including Microsoft Office is required
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a team player
- Ability to work with large amount of detailed data with high level of accuracy
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Must be able to meet established deadlines
- Preferred working knowledge of Oracle EBS and P2 Enterprise Upstream
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; accounting, finance or another related field is preferred
Years of Experience
1-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
Travel Requirements
Less than 5%, travel may be required for meetings or training
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
