** This is a salaried position with a regular schedule. However, flexibility is required to address emergencies that may arise.
Position Purpose
Responsible for the general maintenance of all district schools and facilities, including all internal operation systems and controls, external maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains and repairs school grounds and facilities, including State Certified Water System Small Operator's License, to take quarterly bacterial tests, daily, monthly and/or yearly water tests, and inclusive paperwork as determined by the State. Maintains and repairs chlorinator, water system, including septic tanks and leach fields, football fields and baseball irrigation. Winterizes lines for swamp coolers, hose bibs, and lines subject to freezing.
- Maintains and repairs heating systems, including pump repair, distribution and controls of hot water, electric, and propaine forced air along with boiler system.
- Maintains and repairs plumbing and controls to include faucets, sinks, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains, ice machines, swamp coolers, and hot water heaters.
- Maintains and repairs electrical distribution inside the school to include fluorescent, incandescent, metal halide, mercury vapor and LED light fixtures; maintains and repairs controls, fire alarms, smoke detectors, electric motors, power tools, intercom, scoreboards, flashing school lights, and district marquee.
- Maintains and repairs refrigerators and freezers.
- Provides framing, drywalling, finishing, painting, and other carpentry skills.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as requested by faculty and staff to include doors, door locks and exit devices, glass repair, locker combinations and doors, playground equipment, commercial cooking equipment, floor and ceiling repair, and desk repairs.
- Provides services to athletic fields such as lining of the football and baseball field and overall general care.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing equipment and materials.
- Assist and works collaboratively with custodial services on the maintenance and upkeep of the building.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

- Ability to be on feet up to eight hours every day. The work is mostly walking and standing with periods of sitting.
- Typical positions require workers to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, bend and crouch; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; and feel the shape, size and temperature of objects.
- The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors. identify colors, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
- Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
