Cottesmore Childcare Centers is conducting a search for a Center Director who wants to make a difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.
Compensation is Dependent on Experience ($41,600 – $52,000 annual).
Duties
Center Director oversees the Center program and activities, including supervising, training, and coaching the staff, including the Lead and Assistant teachers, substitutes and kitchen staff.
The Center Director ensures safe operations, maintains compliance with all state WAC licensing requirements, while promoting healthy social and emotional development of children. The Center Director should enjoy working as a team member and building strong partnership with staff, parents, children, and the community.
Job Description:
- Works with staff, parents, and children to support children’s behavior and learning, and ensure that parents receive timely communication about their child’s progress.
- Supervise the center’s early learning programs and activities, ensuring safe operation and compliance with all WAC licensing requirements. Perform periodic performance reviews and ensuring accountability of staff.
- Prepare and communicate staff schedule, schedule and conduct staff meetings when needed.
- Post Job openings, interviews, check portable background clearances for all applicants, hire and dismiss instructional staff. Promote and maintain an active staff.
- Ensure the accuracy and thoroughness of records kept on children’s learning, behavior¸ injuries, illnesses; as well as communication with parents and caregivers. Working with the staff to plan age-appropriate curriculum. Working with the Executive Director to plan staff training and completion of WAC requirements.
- Be present on the premises for the majority of the hours ( 5 days of the week) that care is provided and designate a person to be in charge that meets the qualifications of a lead teacher when not present.
- Keep the Executive Director and the Cottesmore Board informed of all operational successes and issues in a timely way. Work with the Board to create solutions to challenges, as well as looking for opportunities or continuous improvement of operations.
- Review staff timesheets and complete corrections for bookkeeper
- Complete 10 clock hours or one college credit of continuing education yearly after the initial training. Five of the ten hours must be in program management and administration for the first two years. Each additional year, three of the ten hours required must be program management and administration.
Requirements
Job Qualifications: A qualified Center Director must:
- Be 25 years or older
- Associate Degree or better in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- A combination of infant, toddler or preschool teaching experience
- 2 years of leadership/management experience
- Strong knowledge in and ability to lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with families and staff
- · Capacity to understand and manage center financial duties
